Seulle ★
Music Album + performance, 2012
42 minutes

Seulle ★ was a structural project that I created for myself in order to get over a break-up. Every Friday morning for a month, I would go to the sound studios of Le Confort Moderne and record myself in-real-time singing while playing a used Roland D-20 from the 1980s. Without preparation for the sound sessions and without any training in singing or playing a synthesizer, I used this process as an exercise to be present with myself. And, without the constraints of technique, these exercises became a safe-place for me to be vulnerable and fumble towards something to hold. Combined with the permanence of live recording, my hidden interiority was forced to the surface. The recordings would also capture the state of my voice on different mornings after staying up late.

Seulle ★’s first album, “fall-followings”, was a place for awkward scrawlings and longings.
