FILMS / VIDEOS
‘Performed Film Portraits’ are works in which loved ones are the subjects of my films.
I make the portraits in order to archive the relationships at the moment the work is being made. These performed actions cause intimacy between me and the friends/lovers/mentors as I create a situation to happen in front of the camera. These people are not dancers or actors – they are untrained bodies negotiating a performed collaboration with me (the camera operator) in real-time. They are usually shot in one-take, without rehearsal, on analog film, in order to make permanent a relation that is inevitably fluctuating.
