PERFORMANCES / INTERVENTIONS
I use performance as a means to submerge into my interiority with curiosity. Through experiments and internal interrogation, traces (be they performance, marks, text, audio, sculpture or other) are the by-product of my inquiries.
I create exercises that resonate a self-reflexivity between the body and the constructed environment in an attempt to negotiate our individual and shared experiences. I try to illuminate idiosyncrasies of everyday behaviors as they are determined by gender, social context, power structures, and the art world. Like a scientist, I use experiments to provide insight into cause-and-effect by demonstrating what outcomes occur when a particular factor is manipulated.
The following presented works are a mixture of performance for the stage and public intervention. Some works include a direct and participatory engagement with the local community -- a way for me to engage and generate works that complicate the relationships of identity within social and cultural contexts.
